Their growing resistance is a completely natural phenomenon, but it is also accelerated by the frequent and excessive use of antibiotics. One way to get rid of resistant bacteria is\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">use of a combination of multiple drugs<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">. However, combination therapy often brings with it a range of unwanted side effects. These can also occur when combining medicines with various foods or nutritional supplements, which often\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">the effectiveness of drugs is reduced<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">. A very well-known example is grapefruit and grapefruit juice. The latter inhibits the activity of certain enzymes (CYP3A4) in the intestines, and due to their lack of activity is then absorbed into the body\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">much higher amount of active ingredients<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0from pharmaceuticals. These can subsequently cause cardiovascular problems and other risks. SA Staphylococcus aureus, OD optical density.<\/figcaption>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-79dfb7b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"79dfb7b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Scientists using the checkerboard method\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">in vitro<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0tested interactions <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">between\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">oxacillin<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0(a beta-lactam antibiotic of the penicillin class) and\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">palm oils<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0from the tucuma palm (<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Astrocaryum<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">vulgare)<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">, coconut tree (<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Cocos nucifera)<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0and oil palm (<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Elaeis guineensis)<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0against the nine tribes\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">S. aureus<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">. Since gas chromatography has identified the main component of all oils as\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Lauric acid,<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0scientists also tested its interactions in combination with oxacillin.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The results showed strong antagonistic interactions between palm oils and oxacillin. Similar effects were subsequently induced by the aforementioned lauric acid. Thus, all indications are that the combination of oxacillin with palm oils and their constituents may\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">adversely affect the treatment of staphylococcal infections<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0in humans (and animals). This is true both in the case of topical application of oils (to the skin surface) and in the case of high-colloid diets. And what can you actually come across palm oils in?
